Copenhagen Fashion Summit is about bringing to light and discussing sustainable solutions for the fashion industry. That same spirit is embodied in the high environmental standards the Summit holds itself to, a commitment that naturally includes our production partners.

Everything from the exhibition stands and water bottles to catering and lanyards has been designed with sustainability in mind. Nametags, made of reused and biodegradable paper, are printed onsite to limit excess material use. Lanyards, produced by Parley for the Oceans, are made of ocean plastic. All signage is made of FSC-certified Re-board, a patented, rigid paperboard made of 100% recovered fibres from the Nordic countries. The delicious food prepared for the Summit by .506 and Nordic Food Export is organic and aims to minimise food waste.

Copenhagen Fashion Summit separates waste, which is why items like our environmentally friendly FSC® cardboard water bottles and biodegradable CMC Biopack cornstarch cutlery, cups, sugarcane lunchboxes, signage and nametags will be incorporated in a sustainable afterlife. Even the Innovation Forum exhibition stands, built by ChipChop, are designed with reuse in mind.

Read more below about our partners who have made Copenhagen Fashion Summit sustainable – and how their innovations work to make the world a greener, more pleasurable place.

Arch & Hook

Sustainable hangers

Arch & Hook, founded in Amsterdam by Sjoerd Fauser and Anne Bas in 2015, provides game-changing innovation in the global hanger industry. Arch & Hook caters to the retail, hospitality and luxury goods industries. The Dutch company believes that the clothing hanger can be sustainable both from an ecological and an economic point of view.

Arch & Hook is turning the hanger industry on its head by presenting sustainable alternatives to the tens of billions of clothing hangers that end up in landfills annually. All wooden products have the Forest Stewardship Council label, and all plastic is 99% recyclable. The company does this by focusing on the recycle grades that have an extended lifespan. This new approach incentivises Arch & Hook clients to think about long-term environmental impact.

Fully committed to its customers on a partnership level, the Arch & Hook team has a true passion for their products. In addition to offices in Amsterdam, London, New York and Sydney, Arch & Hook has a network of employees, resellers and distributors across Europe and the United States.

Mannequino®

Circular mannequin design

Mannequino®, conceived by UK designers Kelly Sant and Arash Kaynama, is the world’s first circular mannequin design. Manufactured in Cambridgeshire in the UK and shipped globally, the mannequins have a patented design that is flat packable, comprised of panels that fit together to make it 3D.

The circular concept has new, smarter built-in mannequin features that suit today’s demanding global retail environments, providing a super lightweight, easier to use, affordable to ship solution that reduces carbon footprint. A Mannequino® is made using digital manufacturing that consumes 80-98% less material than typical forms. The busts are made from non-toxic polypropylene, a material widely used and re-used globally, enabling brands such as Christopher Raeburn, Patagonia, Levi Strauss, Canada Goose, Geox, Timberland, Lee, Rodd & Gunn, Rapha, Cotswold Outdoor and Muji to keep their raw materials in a closed loop.

Parley for the Oceans

Lanyards producer

Parley for the Oceans is a global collaboration network where creators, thinkers and leaders come together to raise awareness for the beauty and fragility of the oceans and collaborate on projects to end their destruction. To address the fast-growing threat of marine plastic pollution, the organisation created a strategy called Parley AIR (Avoid. Intercept. Redesign) and formed alliances with major partners, including adidas, Anheuser Busch InBev (Corona), American Express, the United Nations, the Republic of Maldives and other collaborators spanning the worlds of science, art, fashion, design, entertainment, sports and exploration.

Parley also created Ocean Plastic® – a range of premium materials made from upcycled marine plastic debris intercepted from coastal environments. The use of this catalyst material replaces virgin plastic, showcases eco-innovation and raises awareness and funding for longer-term solutions. Parley, whose ultimate goal is to replace plastic altogether, is calling for a Material Revolution to make this happen.

a c t e™

Innovation Forum spatial design

a c t e™ is a multidisciplinary creative studio pushing boundaries in creative direction and production for design and film. Through its work, the studio commits itself to utilise its art as a tool to reinforce society and espouse sustainable design that is socially and environmentally responsible.

Coexistence is a sculptural approach to describe human intervention in the natural landscape in the course of industrialisation. The juxtaposition of industrial perfection and organic dignity in its rawest form resulted in a sculpture displayed at this year’s Innovation Forum that aims for a balanced coexistence of the two extremes and partly tries to merge them. Visitors are consciously included in the installation through the use of mirrors and spy mirrors, forcing them to see themselves as a part of industrialisation and all its repercussions.
